About The Position

The Director of Operational Excellence is responsible for driving continuous improvement, manufacturing efficiency, and quality transformation across all production operations. This position serves also as the organizational champion for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (GB) training and certification program across the organization, leading cross-functional initiatives that enhance throughput, improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure consistent delivery of API-specification products to the oil and gas sector. The Director partners with plant leadership, engineering, and supply chain teams to embed a culture of operational discipline and data-driven decision-making throughout the enterprise. This role will initially direct an Operations Excellence Manager and reports directly to the Chief Technical & Quality Officer, who provides oversight across Borusan Pipe US and Borusan Berg Pipe, ensuring alignment with global corporate quality and operational systems and performance expectations.

  • Lean Six Sigma Greeb Belt or higher certification.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or quality leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying Lean / Six Sigma training programs at scale.
  • Change leadership and stakeholder engagement
  • Structured problem‑solving mindset
  • Strong observation and analytical skills
  • Ability to translate strategy into practical shop‑floor actions
  • High standards for discipline, consistency, and follow‑through

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process‑driven operations
  • Preferred exposure to safety‑driven environments where 6S is emphasized
  • Preferred experience deploying 5S systems across multiple sites or departments

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and governance of the company's Operational Excellence (OpEx) framework across all manufacturing facilities.
  • Establish and manage a continuous improvement pipeline — identifying, prioritizing, and executing high-impact projects that directly reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Drive measurable KPI improvements in OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), yield, cycle time, scrap rates, and on-time delivery.
  • Design and own the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt curriculum, aligned with methodologies such as DMAIC and business priorities.
  • Define Green Belt selection criteria, certification requirements, and project expectations, consistent with recognized Lean Six Sigma governance models.
  • Oversee delivery of Green Belt training (internal trainers, external partners, or hybrid models).
  • Ensure each Green Belt leads value‑adding projects with validated financial, quality, or operational benefits.
  • Establish and manage project tracking, tollgate reviews, and certification approval.
  • Define and report KPIs for 6S maturity, Green Belt pipeline, certification rates, and business impact.
  • Present progress, risks, and results to leadership and executive committees.
  • Implement and sustain a robust 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) program across all manufacturing cells and support areas.
  • Develop audit frameworks, scoring systems, and visual management standards to maintain 6S discipline.
  • Partner with HSE to integrate safety as a foundational component of the 6S culture.
  • Train area leaders and establish accountability systems to ensure 6S is embedded in daily operations — not a one-time initiative.
  • Act as a senior coach and mentor for Green Belts, project sponsors, and functional leaders.
  • Develop internal continuous improvement talent pipelines, including progression paths toward advanced Lean Six Sigma roles.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture through communication, recognition programs, and best‑practice sharing.
