ROLE OVERVIEW Knowledge and Experience Requires broad management knowledge to lead a team within a department or unit. Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the department. Requirements

Demonstrated competence in the performance of wound care assessment and consulting.
Comfort with technology in order to perform telemedicine consults.
Ability to teach and present information in a positive manner to audiences of varying educational background.
Communicates well with other associates, patients, family members, internal and external partners, providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.
Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia or compact state
Certified Wound Care Ostomy (WOCN)
Minimum two (2) years experience as an Enterostomal Therapy Nurse in a hospital, skilled nursing center or other related medical center.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format.
The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

Plans, organizes and directs wound, ostomy and continence services that meet patient and skilled nursing center needs and coordinates such services with the skilled nursing center’s Director of Nursing Services.
Develops and directs the implementation of wound, ostomy and continence program procedural guidelines.
Develops and participates in the planning, scheduling and conducting of timely education that provides instruction that supports the goal of well-educated treatment nurses.
Develops, implements and maintains an effective orientation program for newly hired treatment nurses that provides knowledge, expectations and confidence to be successful.
Provides leadership and guidance to regional wound, ostomy and continence service nurses.
Assists in incorporating wound, ostomy and continence care into patient’s total plan of care.
Monitors the skilled nursing center’s wound care program adherence to guidelines and best practices, properly working equipment, adequate and appropriate supplies and provides recommendations to the Director of Nursing and Administrator as needed.
Attends and participates in skilled nursing center patient assessment and care planning meetings as necessary including telemedicine consults.
Provides center on-site visits as determined by the needs of the center.
Instructs other health team professionals and family members in the methods of assisting skilled nursing center patients to improve or correct compromised skin.
Reviews the competence of skilled nursing center personnel assigned to treatments and makes necessary adjustments/corrections as required.
Monitors skilled nursing center compliance with wound, ostomy and continence guidelines.
Makes recommendations to the skilled nursing center’s Administrator and/or RVP regarding equipment and supply needs related to wound, ostomy and continence care.
Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to maintain knowledge of current practices in the field of expertise, and support licensure and certification status.
Honors patients’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, and respect.
Follows established safety regulations when performing job tasks to include fire protection/prevention, infection prevention, and occupational hazards. Report any exposures as required.

Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
