About The Position

The Director of Workforce Development reports to the Executive Director of Business and Industry Center. The position is located at 3303 East Roosevelt in Little Rock, Arkansas. The position is an integral role for the effective and quality coordination for workforce development activities and opportunities in the Central Arkansas region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, communications, marketing, sales, or related field.
  • Three to five years of increasingly responsible experience in higher education or business leadership, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • At least three years of experience in project management or related field.
  • Experience in managing budgets and allocating resources effectively.
  • Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, facilitation and organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically, prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely, thoughtful, evidence-based manner.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, recruit and supervise staff, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Effective verbal, and written communication skills, and a high level of professional integrity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Commitment to college vision, mission, and philosophy.
  • Ability to work effectively with varied internal and external constituencies to achieve the goals/objectives of the center.
  • Valid Arkansas’ Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in business administration or related field.
  • Five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in higher education or business leadership, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Relevant experience in workforce development or related field with familiarity with relevant regulations, best practices, and trends in workforce development and Arkansas’ workforce needs
  • Experience with Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Network with businesses / industries, chambers, state agencies, and other entities to actively pursue training partnerships with employers and agencies in the UA-PTC service area by creating and executing a marketing plan.
  • Coordinate multiple non-credit programs simultaneously including Kubota Tech, Future Fit, Skills to Launch, Avionics Tech, workforce development projects including customized and/or open-enrollment courses based on industry needs, and the Leadership Training Academy.
  • Develop and initiate training agreement documents with employer partners (proposals, Office of Skills Development grants, Memorandum of Understanding, etc).
  • Coordinate with businesses to complete the Office of Skills Development grants and provide appropriate documentation upon completion of the project.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research, Registrar’s Office for Workday admissions, registration, financial aid and billing for non-credit programs/courses.
  • Collaborate with advancement office to research grant opportunities to leverage resources.
  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize progress of projects.
  • Provide direction and supervision for customized workforce faculty and staff including recruitment, mandatory training, scheduling, supplemental contracts, and evaluations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for non-credit apprenticeships and internships. Coordinate with Dean of School of Technical and Professional Studies for credit apprenticeships and internships, as needed.
  • Provide the Executive Director with reports on status of all projects.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project management documentation.
  • Monitor project planning in a shared format to track progress and implementation.
  • Research labor market data trends and develop associated training.
  • Attend Chamber of Commerce, Little Rock Port Authority, and other stakeholder meetings and events.
  • Recruit for non-credit training opportunities including displaced workers, incumbent workers, rehab services, grant requirements, and more.
  • Schedule tours and meetings at industries including the Little Rock Port, in coordination with Executive Director.
  • Manage schedules for trainings and faculty.
  • Attend workforce conferences, meetings, and summits (locally and out-of-state) as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work environment, professional appearance, communication, and attitude, including clean and safe lab along with management of equipment, inventory, and consumables.
  • Be available evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
