About The Position

Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives. Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. Rosie's Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding. OPPORTUNITY The Director of Workforce Development reports to the Senior Director of Opportunity Programs and plays a vital role in program development, strategy implementation, and growth of Rosie's Place's workforce development program. This role leads the team of Workforce Development Advocates, manages the program budget, and ensures the delivery of high-quality training and career development services that promote confidence, skill-building, and long-term economic independence. The Director collaborates across departments and upholds Rosie's Place's mission and core values in all program operations.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in workforce development services, with a strong preference for work supporting marginalized or underserved communities.
  • At least 3 years of experience supervising staff, with demonstrated success in team leadership and performance management.
  • Deep commitment to social justice and the mission of Rosie’s Place.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex and dynamic situations with composure.
  • Compassionate, diplomatic communicator with a guest-centered and service-oriented approach.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support a diverse team.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other commonly used software platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and collaborative team member with a proactive work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee efficient, guest-centered workforce development services aligned with Rosie's Place's mission and values.
  • Manage and maintain an equitable workload among Workforce Development Advocates.
  • Develop and manage collaborative partnerships across internal programs and external workforce development organizations, serving as a primary liaison to ensure effective coordination, timely and appropriate referrals, and expanded opportunities for guests.
  • Evaluate and implement service delivery models to adapt to the evolving needs of guests.
  • Stay current on the field of workforce development and community resources to inform and improve service delivery.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across all aspects of the Workforce Development program.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate Workforce Development Advocates through regular individual supervision, team meetings, and annual performance reviews, in alignment with Rosie's Place protocols.
  • Provide staff with targeted training and development opportunities aligned with individual goals and overall programmatic and organizational needs.
  • Lead the development and ongoing management of the Workforce Development Program's budget.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and coverage for workforce development services, including remote and in-person operations.
  • Oversee the accuracy of guest records and ensure timely submission of all required reports.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards and safeguard guest privacy at all times.
  • Actively contribute to the Management Team, modeling leadership and representing the Workforce Development program in cross-program initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Rosie's Place policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Develop and report on annual program goals through regular quarterly updates, and as requested.
  • Represent Rosie's Place in community settings, demonstrating professionalism and alignment with organizational values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Opportunity Programs.
