About The Position

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Director of Education and Workforce Development to join our team! Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and in collaboration with Human Resources, Nursing Leadership, and department leaders work collaboratively with organizational teams and committees to ensure quality education and training of clinical professionals is achieved in areas of clinical competency and clinical information systems. The Director of Education and Workforce Development incorporates evidenced-based research and practice into educational plans while designing, implementing, and evaluating programs of education that contribute to the growth and development of the staff. The Director is responsible for the education department and provides oversight of all education programs and services across the organization. Oversees workforce development programs including the LNA (licensed nursing assistant), Vermont Technical College Regional site Program- Morrisville, Nurse Residency Program. Nursing Competency Program, and LPN (licensed practical nurse)transitions program. The Director will collaborate on ancillary programs of education in Pharmacy, Respiratory, laboratory and other allied health disciplines as needed. The Director will interface with all Academic Affiliates and participate on designated Academic Nursing Advisory boards. To integrate, support, and collaborate with other similar workforce programs in other affiliates. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care. Supervises Education Team member(s). This position is Full-Time (PT options available). Copley Hospital has a variety of shifts available across Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem needs. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (or currently enrolled with conferral date within two years post-hire)
  • 5+ years of clinical and educating experience
  • Clinical nursing experience in Acute Care Hospital setting.
  • Medical Surgical, Progressive Care, Emergency, or Peri-Operative experiences
  • Current Vermont RN licensure in good standing with no restrictions
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS

Responsibilities

  • EDUCATION OPERATIONS AND LEADERSHIP The Education Operations and Leadership function provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for the organization’s education and professional development programs. This role serves as an educator, facilitator, consultant, researcher, and change agent in alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, while acting as a visible leadership role model for staff. Responsibilities include collaborating with executive and nursing leadership to achieve organizational goals; leading clinical policy, protocol, and order set development; ensuring evidence-based practice is consistently integrated into education programs; and maintaining regulatory compliance. This function oversees budgeting, resource management, departmental human resources functions, and educator performance, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, managing academic affiliations and student placement processes, and actively participating in key committees that support quality, safety, informatics, and nursing practice.
  • WORK FORCE DEVELOPMENT The Workforce Development function focuses on assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating education programs that support staff competency, onboarding, and professional growth across the continuum of care. This role incorporates adult learning principles to develop and maintain orientation, residency, competency, and continuing education programs, including nursing assistant training, preceptor development, and transitional programs. Responsibilities include conducting learner and unit needs assessments; prioritizing departmental projects; coordinating simulation, in-services, and annual mandatory education; and monitoring participation and completion of competency requirements. The function collaborates closely with leadership, human resources, academic partners, and community organizations to strengthen workforce pipelines, enhance clinical practice, and ensure educational initiatives align with organizational standards, technology systems, and evolving healthcare needs.
