About The Position

Basic Function The Director of Therapeutic Services/Clinical Services is a senior leader responsible for overseeing therapy operations and participating in the development and implementation of strategies and plans aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. This role combines strategic oversight, clinical supervision, and direct care to ensure ethical, effective, and compliant service delivery. The Director will dedicate approximately 70% of their time to leadership and oversight tasks, 15% of their time to direct client/patient sessions, 10% of their time to cross-functional collaboration, and 5% of their time to administrative tasks. Reporting to the Owner/CEO, the Director directly leads 3 Clinical Leads and indirectly leads a team of up to 40 clinicians over 3 locations. As a member of the leadership team, this Director collaborates cross-functionally to advance the organization's mission and goals.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a licensed clinician
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Psychology or related field
  • Current Virginia state license as a Mental Health Professional
  • Registered as a board approved supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Partner with CEO and peers to guide clinical strategy, policy development, and cross-departmental initiatives
  • Participate in weekly leadership meetings to review KPIs, address policy concerns, and advocate for therapists
  • Oversee clinical policies, procedures, and compliance with federal, state, and third-party regulations; participate in reviews, audits, training, and quality assurance activities to ensure clinical compliance
  • Collaborate on care coordination plans and preferred provider status with insurance panels
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding in partnership with HR and Clinical Leads
  • Maximize billing efficiency and intake workflows
  • Supervise Clinical Leads in their oversight of therapists, ensuring effective leadership, performance management, and clinical support
  • Facilitate case consultations, clinical training, and peer reviews
  • Collaborate with the Training Coordinator to implement a comprehensive agency program.
  • Manage a personal caseload, providing therapeutic services
  • Assess patient status by obtaining biopsychosocial history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; presenting illness, risk factors, family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; perform appropriate physical examinations
  • Integrate data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including referral for any health risks
  • Develop and implement treatment plans by providing evidence based and/or professionally respected interventions; monitor progress during treatment and recommend appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs
  • Provide continuity of care, triage client communications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams
  • Complete documentation within 72 hours, ensuring accuracy and compliance
