About The Position

Independently determines organizational performance or staff development needs agency wide. Responsibilities include administration of certification, educational and/or training programs, supervising support and professional level staff, development and administration of budget, administration of policies and procedures, organizational development, designing course curricula, developing lesson plans & instructional materials. Also, may deliver instructional testing, facilitate project teams, and secure facilities and resources for instruction. Certification may be required in a specialty area. This position will provide expert guidance, mentorship, and accountability for over 1,000 EMS Educators, including accredited programs in academic institutions, EMS agencies and independent instructors. This position must have extensive and accurate knowledge to guide programs to both national standards and Virginia regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a Program Director in an Nationally accredited Paramedic program and would meet or exceed Program Director Qualifications at https://coaemsp.org/personnel/. The individual must also be able to satisfy the requirements of a Virginia EMS Education Coordinator within a reasonable time period, and have thorough knowledge of National EMS Education Standards, in order to ensure compliance with initial and continuing education standards. A thorough understanding of state government and regulatory processes is essential.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and training methods, needs assessments, organizational development, and information technology related to education/training
  • Requires group facilitation expertise including effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, communicate, and consult constructively
  • Experience in developing instructional plans and supporting methods and materials
  • Ability to manage logistical, administrative, and contractual details associated with the program
  • thorough knowledge of National EMS Education Standards
  • thorough understanding of state government and regulatory processes

Nice To Haves

  • Prior state/federal experience in program area preferred
  • Meet or exceed qualification standards for CAAHEP Accreditation Program Directors
  • Extensive experience in managing all aspects of national EMS accreditation, preferably as a Program Director.
  • Minimum certification as a Paramedic with three years field experience (required to obtain EMS Education Coordinator)
