Director of Surgical Services

About The Position

General Function: The Director Surgical Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Surgical Services department. Collaborating closely with the Senior Leadership Team, the Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of perioperative patient care. This role oversees Same Day Surgery, Main OR, PACU, Sterile Processing, Endoscopy, and Surgical Environmental Services. In partnership with the Director of Anesthesia, the Director ensures continuous performance improvement and clinical excellence among CRNA and MD staff while maintaining strict adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Louisiana
Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification
Specialty certification preferred (i.e. CNOR)
Three years of OR management experience preferred
Five years of experience in surgical nursing preferred
Basic computer and Microsoft program knowledge
Knowledge of Surgical Services
Organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
BLS, ACLS and PALS certification within 4 months of start date
Potential for increased stress levels
May encounter communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, and hazardous materials
Potential for exposure to combative, violent, and abusive client behaviors
Lifting, pushing, and pulling +/- 50 pounds – clients, equipment, supplies
