About The Position

The Director of Subsidiary Rights is responsible for overseeing all subsidiary rights for Little, Brown and Company, including the Algonquin, Voracious and Little, Brown Spark lists.

Requirements

• Knowledge of selling rights and licensing, particularly foreign rights.
• The ability to work efficiently and independently.
• Proven sales ability.
• Ability to travel.
• Minimum of 7 years of publishing experience, preferably in subsidiary rights.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience.
• Must be results driven and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed.
• Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.
• Proven ability to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization; takes the lead in inspiring others to work together for mutual benefit.
• Meticulous organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Identify and capitalize on potential subrights opportunities.
• Sell domestic and international rights.
• Attend book fairs and other company events as assigned.
• Supervise some subrights staff.
• Create and track sales budget, revenue estimates, and sales targets.
