Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of UNLV Global, the Director of Study Abroad Programs provides leadership for all aspects of the institution's outbound student Study Abroad Programs and activities. This role involves working with senior leadership to set goals and strategic direction for study abroad programs at UNLV. The Director is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, expansion, and assessment of high-impact learning opportunities in Study Abroad that are integral to students' academic paths and uphold the university’s commitment to academic rigor and global competence. The position manages academic approval, operational oversight, financial sustainability, compliance, and risk management associated with study abroad programming, including faculty-led programs. It requires collegial collaboration across academic and administrative units and within UNLV Global to review and approve new international activities for students. The Director also manages the institution’s Study Abroad Scholarship portfolio and supervises and mentors the Study Abroad Programs team. Additionally, the Director guides students interested in the Fulbright program and other nationally competitive awards for study abroad funding. This role contributes to the core mission of Academic Affairs to increase enrollment and promote equitable student success, collaborating to set annual goals aligned with Top Tier initiatives and SVPAA mission, and tracking core metrics. The Director plays a crucial role in enrollment growth, removing barriers to student success, ensuring inclusive and equitable access to resources, eliminating achievement gaps, and providing outstanding services and support to students.
