About The Position

The Director of Student Support Services is responsible for overseeing district-wide efforts in discipline management information systems, student attendance, and the transfer process. This position provides leadership, supervision, and support to district personnel, ensuring that all operations align with district goals and comply with state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in educational administration
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to student discipline and attendance
  • Knowledge of PEIMS (Public Education Information Management System) and Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • Strong understanding of student data reporting requirements and state compliance standards.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and ensure accuracy of student information and attendance data.
  • Proficiency in data systems management, including Skyward Student or similar student information systems.
  • Knowledge of positive discipline support programs
  • Ability to disseminate information to individuals and groups
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and laws
  • Ability to deliver effective training to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to mediate, problem solve, and resolve conflict
  • 5 years educator administrator experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage the district's admissions, transfer, discipline, and residency process.
  • Review, update, and publish the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Assist campus administrators with fair and consistent administration of discipline policies and discretionary disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) placements.
  • Monitor discipline trends and work with campus administrators to develop campus discipline improvement plans to address student needs in the areas of attendance and discipline.
  • Address parent concerns related to discipline and campus administrative decisions.
  • Conduct thorough, impartial investigations.
  • Develop and present training to campus administrators regarding student discipline and Texas Education Code Chapter 37.
  • Work with campus administrators to recognize attendance trends and concerns.
  • Ensure timely notification to parents regarding concerns with student attendance.
  • Support campus administrators and parents in following truancy laws.
  • Develop and implement district-wide truancy prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Work with Enrollment, Truancy, and Dropout Coordinator, to reduce chronic absenteeism.
  • Ensure compliance with Texas Compulsory Attendance Laws and facilitate court referrals when necessary.
  • Collaborate with families, community partners, and social services to provide support for at-risk students.
  • Monitor dropout trends and implement retention strategies to improve graduation rates.
  • Oversee the district-wide grade reporting process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with grading practices.
  • Collaborate with campus registrars, PEIMS staff, and the District Data Clerk to ensure timely and accurate submission of student grades.
  • Ensure grading policies align with district guidelines, state mandates, and TEA requirements.
  • Supervise the management of progress reports, report cards, GPA calculations, and class rankings.
  • Address and resolve grade discrepancies, including missing or incorrect grades, grade changes, and incomplete records.
  • Ensure accurate submission of course credits, transcripts, and graduation records.
  • Provide training and guidance for teachers, counselors, and administrators on grade entry, reporting deadlines, and state reporting requirements.
  • Actively participate in the District Safety & Security Committee, collaborating with district leadership, law enforcement, and emergency response personnel.
  • Provide data analysis on student incidents, discipline trends, and truancy to enhance school safety initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of district-wide emergency response plans, threat assessments, and safety policies.
  • Ensure campus leaders and staff receive proper training on school safety, crisis response, and student discipline procedures.
  • Oversee campus visitor management regulations.
  • Select, train, evaluate, and supervise staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable accounting records.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
