About The Position

The Director of Student Governance & Greek Life provides strategic leadership and oversight for the university's registered student organizations (RSOs), fraternity and sorority life, and student governance structures, including the Student Government Association (SGA). This position plays a critical role in developing programs, policies, and partnerships that promote student involvement, leadership development, organizational accountability, and community standards. The Director supervises professional and graduate staff, oversees organizational compliance, and manages risk mitigation efforts to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and responsible campus engagement environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Requirements

  • Master's degree.
  • Three to five years related work experience; preferably in a university setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to the university mission and purpose; teaching and learning; high academic standards; and student success.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Knowledge and experience using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications (with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint presentation).
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, employees, and the public.
  • Skill in facilitating and modeling a quality customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and conduct/complete independent work assignments.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and the general public
  • Ability to critically, analyze and synthesize information

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and evaluation to the Coordinator of Leadership & Student Transitions and the Graduate Assistant for Student Organizations.
  • Lead the strategic planning and development of Greek Life, RSOs, and student governance initiatives to align with institutional priorities related to student engagement, retention, and success.
  • Oversee all fraternity and sorority life operations, including NPHC intake, chapter development, leadership education, risk management, and policy enforcement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to national and regional Greek councils and headquarters.
  • Ensure chapter compliance with university, council, and national organization guidelines.
  • Direct the registration, training, and oversight process for all university-recognized student organizations (RSOs).
  • Coordinate resources, education, and support for RSOs to foster organizational growth, accountability, and leadership capacity.
  • Advise on event planning, risk mitigation, financial management, and campus involvement strategies for RSOs.
  • Provide leadership and advisement to the Student Government Association (SGA), supporting elections, leadership transitions, budget oversight, and legislative processes.
  • Facilitate regular leadership training and retreats for SGA officers and committee chairs.
  • Oversee leadership development programs in partnership with the Coordinator of Leadership & Student Transitions, including training for peer mentors, first-year student leaders, and student organization officers.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of leadership workshops, transition processes, and recognition initiatives.
  • Ensure organizational and event compliance with campus policies, state laws, and national organization standards.
  • Manage assessment efforts to measure the impact of Greek Life, SGA, and RSO engagement on student success and retention.
  • Work closely with campus partners including Housing, Student Conduct, Title IX, Athletics, and Academic Affairs to promote student involvement and resolve issues related to student organizations and Greek Life.
  • Participate in divisional and institutional committees to represent student engagement interests.
  • Support late-night and weekend programs as needed.
  • Contribute to divisional goals and special projects in Student Affairs.
