The Director of Specialty Programs provides strategic and operational leadership for the oversight, growth, and long-term sustainability of VNH specialty programs. This role partners closely with executive leadership and cross-system stakeholders to design, launch, and scale innovative home-based care services that meet evolving community and organizational needs. The Director serves as both a strategic community partner and internal subject matter expert on home-based care delivery models, guiding program development from concept through implementation while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, financial sustainability, and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in health care administration required.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and work with others to accomplish organizational goals required.
  • Excellent communication and analytic skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • New business start-up experience is preferred
  • Master’s degree in Health Care Administration or Business Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the executive team to develop, implement, and advance the organization’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment between specialty programs and long-term system priorities.
  • Provides leadership and accountability for the oversight, growth, and ongoing development of VNH specialty programs, designing and implementing new services to meet emerging community and organizational needs.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders to direct day-to-day program activities, including supervising staff, allocating resources, and ensuring effective performance management and professional development processes.
  • Establishes, analyzes, and reports program performance metrics and outcomes data to monitor trends, evaluate effectiveness, and inform strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Builds and sustains strong partnerships with leadership across VNH, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Department of Medicine, Dartmouth Health, and The Dartmouth Institute (TDI) to advance shared programmatic goals and collaborative initiatives.
  • Develops annual operating and capital budgets, monitors financial performance, and works with program and finance leaders to achieve fiscal targets and ensure responsible resource stewardship.
  • Leads continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, patient experience, and operational effectiveness while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and engagement among staff.
