About The Position

Continuum of Colorado has an opening to be our Director of Programs. We are looking for an energetic leader who provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure high-quality, person-centered services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and their families. This role plans, organizes, and directs the administrative functions necessary to achieve program objectives, with a strong emphasis on individual choice, quality service delivery, and regulatory compliance. The Director of Programs ensures programs operate effectively and in alignment with each person’s preferences, goals, and support needs, while identifying opportunities for growth and innovation. By leveraging the creativity and expertise of team members, the position advances new initiatives, strengthens procedures, and continuously improves program outcomes. In addition, the Director of Programs builds and supports competent leadership teams responsible for day-to-day program oversight and service delivery. This position develops and communicates clear policies, practices, and expectations to management, ensuring services are delivered by trained, qualified, and mission-driven staff. They oversee the health and safety of individuals served by monitoring the implementation of safety protocols and regulatory standards from Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and by ensuring that medical services are provided respectfully, accurately, and in accordance with physician orders and individual and family needs. This position does offer opportunities to work remotely; however, depending on the programmatic need, you will need to be able to work daily in the office, at programmatic sites, and in the community, as well. Due to the nature of the role, the ideal applicant will live within the Denver/Aurora Metro area. Additionally, we’re committed to a great work-life balance here, so you’ll get to work full-time at 36 hours/week with a 4-day work week, Monday through Thursday, with flexibility and availability to be on call to assist with residential needs, crisis situations, and after-hours coverage.

Requirements

Minimum of five (5) years of management experience, including direct supervision of employees, is required
Thorough working knowledge of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and related regulatory frameworks is required
Demonstrated knowledge of management principles and their practical application is required
Ability to work flexible hours, as needed
Reside within the Denver/Aurora metro area
Possess a valid Colorado driver's license and proof of auto insurance with reliable means of transportation
Meet our driving requirements: have a driver's license for the last three (3) years with no suspensions/revocations and no more than two (2) moving violations in the past three (3) years

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, or in a similar field, is preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities field, or in a similar field, is preferred
Experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred

Responsibilities

Assures employees effectively operate programs and support services to ensure safe and quality services are provided to individuals and families
Develops, monitors, and implements policies and procedures based on regulatory requirements (CDPHE, HCPF); ensures appropriate implementation and follow-through by supervisees
Works with the agency's Executive Team in strategic planning; exhibits creativity and ability to implement new and innovative ideas to improve organizational viability
Responsible for managing all business and programmatic matters in accordance with regulatory requirements
Oversees the work activities of Regional Managers, Nurse, and nursing activities in all programs
Ensures all regulations are met regarding reportable incidents; expeditiously informs Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect and/or Exploitation (MANE) investigator(s) when MANE allegations are reported and ensures investigations begin quickly to ensure individual safety and according to CDPHE, HCPF, and agency requirements
Monitors productivity and prioritizes work activities of supervised staff to ensure balanced workloads and individual requirements are met; provides assistance as needed
Trains, coaches, and mentors Regional Managers to ensure their ability to effectively and independently problem-solve situations with individual, families, and employees; provides feedback and recommendations as needed
Provides supervisees with ongoing feedback related to performance through regular supervision and performance evaluations
Reviews, provides input, and ensures Regional Managers provide regular feedback to their supervisees through ongoing supervision and timely performance evaluations; ensures all departmental evaluations are completed as required
Oversees and assists with recruitment, hiring, training, performance feedback, and evaluation processes of team members
Assists in the development of departmental budget(s) for respective facilities and programs in collaboration with the Senior Director
Oversees and manages program and facility budgets; ensures departments stay within allocated budgetary goals
Identifies budgetary needs and makes recommendations; solicits input from team members and ensures they are aware of budgetary goals and constraints
Problem-solves budget variances with management team and supervisees; identifies fiduciary and budgetary problems and involves others in seeking solutions
Attends and actively participates in assigned committees and meetings (Management, Risk Management, etc.)
