About The Position

As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Consumer Card Technology group, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with Relational or NoSQL Datastores such as Cassandra, PostgreSql, GAIA Oracle Services, Graph Databases
  • Proficiency in multiple modern technologies: Python, Java version 14+, Spring Boot, Restful Microservices
  • Experience in cloud systems AWS or Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, asynchronous messaging such as Kafka.
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Proven ability to architect API based/event based implementations/BPMN
  • Strong communication skills, with experience presenting technical concepts to business stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at code level with technologies Java / Spring boot / eventing mechanism
  • Demonstrated success in driving transformation initiatives or modernizing legacy systems
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in financial services

Responsibilities

  • Lead technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Make decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carry governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
  • Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champion the firm’s culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
  • Foster a collaborative environment, mentoring and developing engineering talent to achieve high performance
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including agile methodologies and DevOps, to enhance delivery and operational excellence
