Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standard of social work practice in job situations. Demonstrate satisfactory level of interpersonal skills to interact with residents, families, community, government agencies, and interdisciplinary staff. Able to establish criteria to assure that services provided meet established standards of quality. Demonstrate assessment skills sufficient to evaluate resident’s behavior, to collect data to evaluate psychosocial needs, risk factors for psychosocial deterioration, and residents’ responses to interventions. Ability to interpret and explain resident behavior to staff in a way that fosters understanding, facilitates treatment, and respect for residents rights. Minimize the use of chemical and physical restraints. Ability to implement social services interventions that achieve treatment goals, address resident needs, link social support, physical care, and physical environment to enhance quality of life. Promote and protect resident rights, assist residents to make informed decisions, treat residents with dignity and respect. Protect residents’ personal belongings, report suspected abuse or neglect, avoid the need for physical restraints in accordance with the current professional standards. Support independent expression, choice, and decision-making consistent with applicable law and regulation. Complete progress notes and track/complete PASRRS.
