About The Position

Friends University is seeking to fill the Director of Security position in Wichita Kansas. The Full-Time Director of Security at Friends University provides services to all staff, faculty, students and visitors of Friends University; monitor safety conditions for residence halls and other campus buildings; serve as an essential member of the Crisis Response Team (CRT); provide and implement crime prevention and safety programs; serve as point of contact for Friends University with video monitoring company; maintain safe parking conditions on campus; coordinate with local PD regarding any disruptions on campus; comply with federal regulations and provide crime and fire statistics to the DOE on an annual basis. Requirements

Five years of experience in law enforcement or related field is required; as is firearms certification and security officers licensing.
Must carry handgun that meets with the Wichita Police Departments requirements.
Computer skills are necessary (Microsoft Office product desired).
Associate degree is required.
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Exposure to potentially hazardous situations that require a calm, professional response.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Patrol campus; provide security to the employees and students at the university; check and maintain security to all buildings and grounds.
Supervise security personnel; schedules officers for all shifts and special events; and fills in or contract outside assistance for coverage when scheduled officers cannot work.
Deal with parking concerns and enforcement; barricade areas for special events.
Communicate with students, faculty and staff about security concerns; respond to emergencies and alarms.
Document and report all campus crime, fire and title IX statistics to the federal government and any criminal incidents to the Wichita Police Department. Help to implement crime prevention and safety programs on campus. Critical Incident Management maintenance and administration.
Prepare and oversee Security budget.
