About The Position

The Director of Security is a senior leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's comprehensive global physical security program. This position ensures the safety and protection of all Indivior employees, facilities, assets, and intellectual property across all geographic locations, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and rest of world operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Director of Security will collaborate closely with executive leadership, IT and cybersecurity teams, and external security partners to establish a robust security infrastructure. The role holder will manage third-party relationships for executive protection services, conduct regular threat assessments, and provide strategic security briefings to the CHRO, CEO, and Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in security, law enforcement, or military service, with at least 5 years in senior security leadership roles
  • Understanding of project reporting and deadlines through OKRs and quarterly management reviews
  • Required: Experience in executive protection with a C-suite background, working with high-net-worth individuals, managing executive protection teams and third-party security vendor relationships
  • Required: Significant background in narcotics-related law enforcement, investigations, or regulatory compliance, demonstrating a deep understanding of controlled substance security requirements and the drug enforcement landscape
  • Required: Demonstrated experience in safety management, including occupational health and safety, workplace violence prevention, emergency response planning, and fire safety
  • Proven track record of managing global or multi-site security operations across different jurisdictions and regulatory environments
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences industry
  • Experience conducting threat assessments, security investigations, and risk analyses
  • Track record of successfully developing and delivering security training programs
  • Certifications Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from ASIS International is required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Virginia DCJS 32E Personal Protection Specialist
  • Additional certifications welcome, such as: Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), or relevant industry credentials

Nice To Haves

  • Prior service with local, state, or federal law enforcement.
  • Experience with narcotics task forces, controlled substance investigations, or pharmaceutical diversion prevention
  • Background in security, intelligence, or special operations
  • Experience working in publicly traded companies with board-level reporting requirements
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including DEA regulations, HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant compliance requirements
  • International experience managing security operations across multiple countries and cultures

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Security Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive global physical security strategy aligned with Indivior's business objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk tolerance
  • Establish and maintain security policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures for all company sites across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and other international locations
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on all physical security matters, advising senior leadership on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies
  • Drive continuous improvement in security operations through regular assessment, benchmarking, and adoption of industry best practices
  • Employee Safety and Protection Ensure the physical safety and security of all employees, contractors, and visitors across all Indivior facilities globally
  • Create and implement processes and protocols for employee safety, including visitor management, access control, and emergency response procedures
  • Co-develop and deliver comprehensive security awareness training programs to ensure all employees understand and adhere to safety protocols and best practices
  • Establish and oversee workplace violence prevention programs, including threat identification, reporting mechanisms, and intervention strategies
  • Design and implement security protocols specifically for interview processes and onboarding, protecting both candidates and company personnel
  • Executive Protection and Third-Party Management Manage strategic relationships with third-party security providers to address critical physical security needs for exposed executives and high-risk personnel
  • Oversee the development and implementation of executive protection programs, including residential security assessments, secure transportation, and event security
  • Evaluate, select, and manage external security vendors, ensuring service level agreements are met and value is delivered
  • Coordinate protective intelligence operations to proactively identify and mitigate threats to senior executives, their families, and company operations
  • Threat Assessment and Intelligence Conduct comprehensive threat assessments and security risk analyses across all company locations, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate countermeasures
  • Monitor geopolitical developments, industry trends, and emerging threats that may impact Indivior's operations, personnel, or reputation
  • Prepare and deliver regular threat assessment reports and security briefings to the CHRO, CEO, and Board of Directors
  • Develop and maintain intelligence networks with law enforcement agencies, industry peers, and security organizations to stay abreast of potential threats
  • Lead investigations into security incidents, thefts, threats, and other security-related matters, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate resolution
  • Site Security and Operations Management Manage and provide leadership to onsite security personnel across all Indivior locations, including contracted security officers and internal security staff
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of physical security systems, including access control, CCTV surveillance, intrusion detection, and alarm monitoring
  • Ensure all facilities meet or exceed security standards appropriate for pharmaceutical operations, including controlled substance handling and storage requirements
  • Develop and test emergency response plans, crisis management procedures, and business continuity protocols
  • Conduct regular security audits and site assessments to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • IT and Cybersecurity Collaboration Work hand-in-hand with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure physical security measures complement and integrate with digital security initiatives
  • Collaborate on converged security solutions that address both physical and cyber threats, including protection of critical infrastructure and data centers
  • Partner with IT leadership on security technology investments, vendor selection, and system integrations
  • Support investigations involving both physical and digital security elements, ensuring coordinated response and evidence preservation
  • Governance and Reporting Report directly to the CHRO on all security matters, providing regular updates on program status, incidents, and strategic initiatives
  • Prepare and present security reports, threat assessments, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors as required
  • Manage the global security budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources while meeting operational requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international security regulations, including DEA, HSE, and pharmaceutical industry requirements
  • Maintain detailed records, incident reports, and security documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
