The Director of School Leadership (DSL) is a district leadership role responsible for supervising and developing school principals and ensuring strong instructional leadership across a network of Tulsa Public Schools campuses. DSLs serve as the official evaluator of record for assigned principals and are responsible for supervising, coaching, and evaluating principal performance. The role includes accountability for principal effectiveness, school improvement outcomes, and the implementation of district leadership expectations. Each DSL supervises and evaluates principals within an assigned network of schools. Networks may include elementary or secondary schools, with contextual differences in instructional focus while maintaining a unified leadership framework and consistent leadership expectations across the district. The DSL operates at the intersection of schools and district leadership. The role supports system-wide school improvement by monitoring performance across schools, identifying trends, supporting leadership development, and informing district strategy related to school performance and instructional improvement. DSLs work closely with district executive leadership to ensure alignment between school performance, district priorities, and Board-adopted goals. Success in this role is defined by continuous growth in student proficiency and sustained improvement in school performance outcomes.
