Midwest Bus Sales is looking for a bold, strategic, purpose-driven Director of Sales to lead our next phase of growth across bus, parts, and service. We sell Thomas Built Buses—the best school bus on the market—and operate across six states and six locations. In this role, you’ll lead strategic sales transformation—unifying our go-to-market approach, strengthening sales capabilities, and driving commercial growth. Requirements

  • 5+ years leading dealership, commercial vehicle, or fleet sales across multi-state operations
  • Track record of growing parts & service and creating bundled offers
  • Expert in strategic sales and commercial growth—optimizing channels and unlocking new revenue streams
  • Skilled in go-to-market strategy, pricing, RFP/bid management, and CRM execution
  • Data-driven, analytical approach to boost performance
  • Collaborative leader who brings energy, empathy, and a customer-first mindset
  • Innovative thinker focused on scalability and impact

Responsibilities

  • Drive bus sales and market expansion
  • Build and execute scalable sales strategies across Colorado, Illinois, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
  • Own pipeline, forecasting, pricing discipline, and bid/RFP strategy to increase win rate and margin.
  • Partner with OEMs and suppliers on allocations, promotions, demos, and inventory plans; coordinate demos and trade-ins.
  • Expand parts and service
  • Manage local team's customer outreach, sales tracking and areas of emphasis.
  • Work with the leaders in Parts and Service to develop strategies to increase maintenance contracts, extended warranties, mobile service, and seasonal/parts kits.
  • Work with the Parts and Service teams to run targeted parts campaigns (filters, brake kits, electrical, safety) and improve fill rate, lead times, and inventory turns.
  • Align with Service on capacity planning, labor strategy, and upsell pathways.

  • Work closely with Beacon platform operations to identify and deliver real efficiencies together.
  • Oversee development of long-term relationships with OEMs, school districts, contractors, and municipalities.
  • Work with local teams and oversee negotiation of complex bids and contracts that enhance uptime and fleet readiness.
  • Represent MBS as a trusted voice in supporting school transportation operations.
  • Lead with accountability
  • Set and monitor KPIs for units sold, parts/service revenue expansion, margin, and attachment rates.
  • Enforce CRM rigor (HubSpot or similar) and deliver clear weekly/monthly reporting.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Customer satisfaction and quality
  • Implement and maintain customer satisfaction tracking and prioritized issue resolution to improve retention and loyalty.
