Requirements

  • 5 years or more of progressive hotel sales experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Must be a caring leader that builds trust and engagement by cultivating genuine relationships
  • Must be creative and strategic in developing marketing/advertising campaigns and be managing various social media platforms
  • Innovative thinker that will challenge business processes and concepts in order to drive results
  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, proven track record in high volume concept, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess understanding of benchmarking tools including the STAR.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Comfortable with sales and revenue systems/programs

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Sales and Marketing has direct oversight of the Sales and Marketing operations of the hotel.
  • Responsibilities include the Sales and Marketing Budget, P&L, revenue forecasting, advertising, marketing, developing and writing business plans, and ownership meetings.
  • This role leads the development and implementation of both short-term and long-term strategies in all sales, catering and marketing channels to achieve hotel’s revenue goals and increase market share performance.
  • As a member of the property’s leadership team, the Director of Sales and Marketing is a highly visible role with exposure to senior and corporate leadership.
  • The Director of Sales and Marketing leads the sales division including the recruitment and hiring of sales staff, training, managing and coaching managers in their selling and servicing process in order to meet company goals and maximize hotel revenues.
  • Must be able to train and monitor the group and transient contractual agreement process, quoting rates, sending referrals, setting traces, and the management of retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts.
  • Coordinate all group, transient and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue
  • Develop, recommend, implement and manage the division’s annual budget and the advertising, public relations, marketing and sales plans and programs for the hotel to maximize rate occupancy and food & beverage opportunities thus ensuring the hotel meets/exceeds management and owner revenue/profit goals and expectations
  • Proactively conduct outside sales calls, conduct sales tours and entertain clients
  • Understand the content reflected in contracts and how to negotiate terms therein
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within the market
  • Attain individual goals as well as team goals and budgeted metrics
  • Train all members of the hotel team on how to recognize and capitalize on all sales opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the operations and policies of the hotel including Sales, Food and Beverage, Front Office and Reservations
  • Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations
  • Attend and/or conduct daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management providing training on a rotational basis
  • Maintain professional working relationships and promote open lines of communication to achieve initiatives with respective marketing partners and other internal departments
  • Required to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to work additional hours to support business operations, events and urgent needs.
