About The Position

Position Summary: The Director of Safety serves as a member of the leadership team and provides platform-wide oversight of health, safety, and regulatory compliance across business units. This role leads a multidisciplinary safety organization, directly manages safety leaders, and sets strategic direction to ensure regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and a strong culture of safety across all operations. Position Responsibilities: Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support consistent, compliant safety practices Maintaining health and safety databases across the organization, including client-specific safety platforms and requirements Developing, reviewing, and regularly updating project-specific Health and Safety Plans to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation Serving as a senior leader responsible for platform-wide safety strategy and governance Providing direction and mentoring to safety managers, and field safety professionals Ensuring compliance with OSHA, MSHA, environmental, and state/federal regulatory requirements Advising the CEO and executive leadership on safety risk, performance, and mitigation strategies Overseeing incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs Establishing KPIs, dashboards, and reporting structures for safety performance and regulatory compliance Leading company-wide safety culture initiatives and continuous improvement efforts Partnering with operations, legal, and project leadership to integrate safety into business strategy Collaborating with Human Resources to ensure OSHA reporting and compliance, workers compensation and injury case management for work-related incidents and other matters. Leads and directly supervises safety team members of senior safety leaders and field safety professionals, with authority over safety policy, staffing, budgeting, and performance management. QualificationsKey Capabilities: Establishes and executes a company-wide safety, health, and compliance strategy aligned with business objectives Sets governance structures, policies, and standards across diverse operating environments Integrates safety into corporate decision-making and long-term planning Leads, mentors, and develops senior safety leaders and direct reports Builds high-performing, accountable safety teams across office, field, and remote operations Anticipates regulatory changes and proactively adapts organizational practices Identifies, assesses, and mitigates enterprise-level safety and operational risks Champions a strong, consistent safety culture across all business units driving behavioral safety and accountability frameworks Establishes safety KPIs, dashboards, and reporting for executive and Board review Uses data and leading indicators to drive proactive risk reduction Manages internal and external communications related to safety matters Ensures safety commitments are upheld even under operational pressure Maintains transparency with executives, employees, and the Board Experience/Education/Licensing & Certification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Engineering, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, including senior-level oversight and direct management of safety teams. CSP certification strongly preferred. PE license a plus. Leadership-level reporting and regulator engagement Physical Requirements: Ability to travel frequently to office and project sites (may include remote locations) Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility clothing as needed Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while reviewing reports, attending meetings, or working at a computer

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Engineering, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, including senior-level oversight and direct management of safety teams.
