About The Position

Chaminade Resort & Spa is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Rooms to lead and oversee all aspects of the Rooms Division, including Front Office, Valet, Housekeeping, and Spa/Recreation. There is a dedicated manager in each of these departments. This leader will ensure exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and strong team engagement across all departments. Nestled on 300 acres of scenic redwood forest in Santa Cruz, Chaminade offers a unique blend of resort amenities, wellness, and hospitality—requiring a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in Rooms Division or Resort Operations
  • Proven experience overseeing multiple departments (Front Office, Housekeeping, Spa/Recreation preferred)
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a luxury resort or full-service hotel environment preferred
  • Knowledge of PMS systems (e.g., Maestro) and housekeeping management systems
  • Guest-centric mindset with a passion for hospitality
  • Strong operational and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead large, diverse teams
  • High attention to detail and service standards
  • Adaptability in a dynamic resort environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and daily oversight for Front Office, Valet, Housekeeping, and Spa/Recreation operations
  • Ensure seamless guest experiences across all touchpoints from arrival to departure
  • Lead, mentor, and develop department leaders and team members
  • Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Champion Forbes/AAA-style service standards and elevate the overall guest journey
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores, reviews, and feedback to drive improvements
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and forecasts
  • Drive revenue opportunities within rooms, spa, and recreation outlets
  • Monitor labor and operational expenses to meet financial goals
  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards are consistently exceeded
  • Oversee inventory controls, linen management, and vendor relationships
  • Oversee reservations, front desk, concierge, and valet services
  • Optimize arrival/departure processes and guest flow
  • Ensure strong communication with Sales, Events, and Engineering teams
  • Oversee spa operations, fitness center, pool, and recreational programming
  • Collaborate on wellness offerings and guest experiences aligned with the resort brand
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and labor regulations
  • Maintain emergency procedures and risk management protocols
