About The Position

Choices for People provides year-round support and instructional programs designed to aid individuals with disabilities in developing essential life skills. These skills promote inclusion, independence, self-sufficiency, and productivity; and aim to maximize the individual’s quality of life in the least restrictive environment possible. Choices for People assists in individual goal-oriented program planning, and acts as an advocate in the community through the removal of attitudinal, architectural, environmental, financial, employment-related, communicational, transportation, and other barriers. The Director is responsible for supporting the Executive Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the division, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, promoting program growth, and enhancing service delivery. The Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the division’s goals align with strategic priorities, providing quality services to clients. This role includes supervising staff, implementing process improvements, and ensuring the overall operational efficiency of the division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required (e.g., Social Work, Public Administration, Human Services, Business Administration).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in a program management setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse populations; experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in program development, evaluation, and quality assurance.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret data and governmental regulations.
  • Write reports and recommend corrective action related to potential risks.
  • Handle private, sensitive, confidential information appropriately.
  • Proven track record of successful team management and staff development.
  • Proficiency with computer, data entry and MS Office skills, along with the use of data-based computer applications.
  • Ability to stand, move, and be physically active for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift 30–50 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in and support activities occurring in a variety of environments (indoor, outdoor, community settings)
  • As a requirement of this position, you will be periodically subject to criminal background checks, drug and/or alcohol screenings, and motor vehicle records checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working with nonprofits, public relations, state entities, and accrediting agencies including Joint Commission, CARF, DHSS, and DMH is preferred.
  • Candidates without a bachelor’s degree may be considered with a combination of education and experience equivalent to degree requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Director in developing, implementing, and monitoring operational systems to ensure the delivery of high-quality services across the division.
  • Collaborate with division heads and key stakeholders to evaluate operational performance and align with strategic goals.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to staff, ensuring they adhere to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver clear, concise reports on operational performance, service delivery compliance, and areas needing attention.
  • Coordinate and assist in the execution of audits, compliance reviews, and other regulatory assessments.
  • Work with Human Resources to foster a positive, inclusive, and effective work environment, ensuring staff performance and growth.
  • Conduct site visits and monitor operational activities to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve concerns and evaluate service effectiveness.
  • Ensure that staff is adequately trained and that training programs are updated regularly.
  • Assist the Executive Director in developing and implementing strategies for program growth and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Monitor transportation services, individual files, and service documentation to ensure compliance with deadlines and organizational standards.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly review meetings, contributing to agenda preparation and data collection.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant industry trends, best practices, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to events, participation, budgets, reporting requirements, and other assigned documentation.
  • Uphold organizational policies and ensure that all operational activities align with applicable internal procedures, state and federal regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Operate facility vehicles when required, ensuring adherence to all safety policies, licensing requirements, and governmental regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all individual, staff, and organizational information and comply with HIPAA and all applicable privacy and confidentiality laws. This obligation applies both during employment and after separation from the organization.
