Director of Recreation and Sports
About The Position
The Director of Recreation & Sports oversees the operations of recreational sports for both youth and adults, as well as summer sports camp programming. This position is responsible for managing full- and part-time staff and creating top-tier programming in alignment with the vision and goals set by the agency. Program Responsibilities: Oversees all aspects of the following programs and services, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, and promoting: Gymnasium Supervision Sports Programs, Leagues, and Camps Gymnasium Rentals and Scheduling Racquet Sports Programs, Clinics, and Camps Develops and monitors programs and services in sports and recreation. (Analyzes internal (Membership) and external (Community) markets for these programs and services.) Supervise and coordinate all summer sports camps Ensures that recreational facilities and equipment are clean, safe, and well maintained Administrative Responsibilities: Work closely with the Marketing department to ensure maximum participation in programs Oversee payroll and submission of personnel paperwork, as well as approval of timesheets Coordinate program registration and ensure accurate registration information, as well as rosters Prepare and manage department budget Review month end budget reports and monitor key performance indicators outlined in scorecard Agency Responsibilities: Represent the JCC’s core values and mission always Serve as an ambassador for the JCC and other departments’ programs and service offerings Bring a collaborative perspective to program design and implementation Supervise and negotiate recreation and sport rentals for the agency All other projects assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Two-three years of experience coaching and/or running sports leagues.
- Strong computer, administrative, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and conscientious.
- Interacts well with members, clients, colleagues and guests.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of all facets of sports, tournaments, rules and culture.
