UCT is looking for a talented Director of Quality to join us in Austin, TX! The Director of Quality leads the development and execution of the company's Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements. This role drives quality strategy across products, suppliers, and customers, partnering with operations and corporate teams to set objectives and implement best practices. Responsible for managing audits, improving processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the Director ensures consistent, reliable results and strengthens organizational effectiveness through data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Statistical data analysis, and ability to analyze data to present information.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other required registrations.
  • Critical thinking skills, ability to understand complex issues and problems, and develop plans to address both internal, supplier and customer needs and objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, team, individual, written, verbal and presentation.
  • Team skills, leadership without control, influence and coaching skills.
  • Strong management experience and skill.
  • BS in Manufacturing or Engineering, MS preferred.
  • Work Experience: 10+ year experience as a manager highly preferred.
  • Experience in quality and manufacturing systems and techniques including ISO 9001, SPC, TQM and customer/supplier management desired.
  • Management Experience (for people manager job only) : 10+ years direct management.

Nice To Haves

  • ASQC CQA, CQT or CQE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of Quality Organization and function: Product quality, Customer and Supplier Quality, and the UCT Quality Management System.
  • Management Representative for ISO and external registration programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Structure and own Management Review process.
  • Partner with Site Operations teams and with corporate functions to set Quality objectives and to establish quality teams at each site to support the company objectives (including shared quality objectives).
  • Quality teams report into Site operations teams also.
  • Own and manage the UCT Quality system; define policy consistent with external (Customer and compliance) requirements, establish UCT quality policy, and deploy procedures and methods across all sites.
  • Manage Customer Quality; establish and maintain customer relationships, manage customer data, lead and ensure closure on customer issues.
  • Manage Supplier Quality, establish and maintain supplier relationships, provide supplier quality data feedback, develop supplier capability and ensure closure on supplier issues.
  • Responsible for outgoing product quality - working with operations teams to build quality in and prevent errors from escaping.
  • Use quality tools such as Zero Quality program, Build Process Optimization, and quality cost to reduce and prevent defects.
  • Lead organization in critical thinking, in the understanding and application of quality tools, disciplines and methods to develop organizational effectiveness, to improve operational results, to continually improve teamwork across the organization.
  • Provide leadership in KPI definition, structure, and the effective use of measurement data/results to drive alignment and results in multi-site organization.
  • Organize routine operational review processes.
  • Lead improvement projects across the organization to align business processes, ensure common process for customers, drive QMS efficiency, and to product consistent predictable results for Customers.
