About The Position

The Director of Quality in an assembly environment is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing the entire Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring that products meet regulatory, industry, and customer standards from raw materials to finished goods. This role is focused on building a proactive, preventative quality culture, leading quality assurance (QA) teams, driving continuous improvement, and reducing costs related to defects.

Requirements

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor of Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Job Experience Requirements: 7-10 years of progressive experience in quality, 5+ years experience in a leadership role.
  • Travel Requirements: <5 % of time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience in corrective actions, root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), FMEA, and control plans.
  • Proficiency with ISO standards such ISO 9001.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, drawings, specifications, and governmental regulations.
  • Understanding of Measurement Tools Calibration.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional team communication skills.
  • Presentation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and continuously improve the QMS to align with lean manufacturing principles, ensuring it supports product quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional quality initiatives that drive measurable improvements in compliance, productivity, and risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations and ensure organizational practices remain compliant.
  • Lead efforts to identify and address compliance gaps proactively.
  • Utilize data-driven methods (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC) to improve process capability, reduce waste, and improve quality KPIs.
  • Investigate quality deviations, lead Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes, and manage customer complaints to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with various department staff to provide data about current quality levels and expertise for maintaining and improving the quality of work and products.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain incoming inspection procedures and sampling plans based on risk and product criticality.
  • Analyze inspection data and generate reports to track quality trends, KPIs, and target continuous improvement.
  • Manage quality team through mentoring and coaching, while creating and implementing quality training procedures.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to product quality and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
