Meritec is seeking a hands-on Quality Director to lead and execute our quality strategy in a high-mix, low-volume, vertically integrated electronic component manufacturing environment. This role combines strategic leadership with active daily involvement on the shop floor, driving AS9100 implementation, developing a robust QMS, and improving quality performance across the business.

  • Lead company-wide quality strategy while working directly with manufacturing, engineering, and inspection teams.
  • Serve as QMS process owner and ensure support of implementation of AS9100-compliant Quality Management System, including procedures, documentation, and training. Ensure ongoing surveillance readiness.
  • Conduct and support internal/external audits; manage corrective actions and root-cause investigations (8D, 5-Why).
  • Ensure timely and effective root cause analysis and closure of all audit findings.
  • Serve as the responsible party for customer quality issues, escalations, and scorecard performance.
  • Develop and manage key quality metrics (COPQ, defects, audits, supplier performance).
  • Support HMLV manufacturing processes: machining, molding, plating, soldering, cable/connector assembly, and testing.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Serve as responsible party for supplier quality activities including qualification, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Lead and mentor the Quality team, promoting a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of quality experience in electronic components or related manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in HMLV or vertically integrated environments.
  • Experience implementing or leading AS9100 certification efforts.
  • Strong skills in root-cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and CAPA management.
  • Strong knowledge of IPC standards.
  • Hands-on leadership style; comfortable working directly with processes and product.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification; experience with NPI or equipment qualification.
