About The Position

The Director of Purchasing is responsible for driving procurement strategies that directly support Roers Companies’ multifamily housing operations, including construction, property management, and maintenance. This position is tasked with leveraging the Roers Companies national pipeline and developing robust national supplier relationships to secure high-quality materials and services while optimizing costs, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining consistency across the portfolio. As a key member of the construction services team, the Director of Purchasing will work closely with the Senior Director and cross-functional teams to align procurement activities with organizational goals. This role requires a deep understanding of supply chain management in the multifamily housing industry, as well as a strategic mindset to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. The ideal candidate will excel in negotiating high-value national accounts, managing vendor relationships, and implementing procurement systems that streamline operations across the organization. The Director of Purchasing will develop and maintain systems for ensuring the full pipeline of Roers Companies portfolio is impacting our overall cost savings objectives. By leveraging economies of scale and creating strategic partnerships, the Director of Purchasing will play a pivotal role in ensuring Roers Companies remains competitive and efficient in delivering exceptional housing experiences. This position combines a strategic focus on long-term procurement initiatives with hands-on execution to support day-to-day operations across a diverse portfolio of multifamily properties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on national account management in multifamily housing or construction
  • Proven experience negotiating large-scale contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement needs for multifamily construction, property management, and maintenance.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
