About The Position

The Director of Purchasing provides strategic leadership across demand planning, inventory management, sourcing, and logistics for assigned product categories. This role is accountable for forecast accuracy, inventory productivity, service levels, and cost performance, while partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to support revenue growth and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive supply chain, demand planning, or inventory leadership experience.
  • Proven success leading global supply chains and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen with a focus on working capital optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, process improvement, and lean practices.
  • Experience with ERP and planning systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Logility, SAGE MAS 500, or similar).
  • Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of domestic and international purchasing and supplier performance.
  • Own the demand planning process, driving forecast accuracy and alignment with sales, marketing, and product strategies.
  • Set and govern inventory strategies to optimize turns, availability, and working capital across multiple distribution centers.
  • Establish, review, and refine supply chain planning parameters (lead times, safety stock, MOQ, container quantities).
  • Lead enterprise-level inventory reduction, cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Direct supplier collaboration, including global partners, to ensure on-time delivery and execution against forecasts.
  • Oversee inbound logistics, freight strategy, compliance, and cost management.
  • Partner with product, marketing, and operations teams to support new product introductions and speed to market.
  • Guide cross-functional execution for system setup, pricing updates, and product activation.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators including inventory levels, backorders, fill rates, on-time delivery, and freight spend.
  • Mentor and influence global and cross-functional teams to elevate supply chain performance.
