About The Position

The Director of Proposals leads and oversees all bid and proposal activity at Corporate Interiors, owning the end-to-end execution of Requests for Furniture Proposals (RFPs), a core function within a commercial furniture dealership. This role coordinates and quarterbacks each proposal effort, ensuring pricing, visuals, and written narratives are accurate, compelling, and aligned with CI’s brand and strategy, while maintaining quality, consistency, and on-time delivery across all submissions. The Director of Proposals works closely across multiple divisions within CI including sales, design, operations, and leadership in a fast-paced environment, and manages the proposals team to prioritize work, allocate resources, and continuously improve processes. Experience with ancillary furniture in a contract environment is highly valued to support value-engineering efforts and identify cost-effective alternatives to base bid selections. This role plays a critical part in shaping how Corporate Interiors competes, positions value, and builds long-term relationships with clients, A&D partners, and manufacturers across the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading or supporting proposal and bid efforts in a business-to-business environment; experience within the contract furniture, AEC, construction, or professional services industries is strongly preferred.
  • Strong ability to manage complex processes and multiple firm deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across teams and disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to internal stakeholders and, when appropriate, clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and lead work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building, auditing, and analyzing complex pricing and proposal models (e.i., formulas, lookups, and pivot tables).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with contract furniture products, pricing structures, and vendor coordination is highly valued, particularly for identifying cost-effective and value-engineered solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the proposals team, distributing workload, setting priorities, and ensuring high-quality deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Champion the development of visually compelling, well-structured proposals and digital presentations that effectively communicate CI’s value to A&D partners, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategically compile, analyze, and present complex pricing and alternate scenarios in Excel, enabling informed team review and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Partner with sales leadership to negotiate vendor pricing and discounts and support pursuit strategies that strengthen CI’s competitive position.
  • Serve as a strategic resource to sales and design teams by leveraging ancillary furniture experience within a contract environment to identify cost-effective, value-engineered alternatives to base bid selections.
  • Maintain working knowledge of ancillary product lines, manufacturers, and pricing structures to support compliant, competitive, and design-aligned proposal solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and manufacturer representatives to evaluate alternate products that balance cost, performance, lead time, and design intent.
  • Continuously improve proposal processes, tools, and digital workflows to increase speed, accuracy, and scalability across all bid efforts.
  • Ensure the CI proposal process is clearly documented and understood across teams, including sales, design, operations, and customer service.
  • Develop, maintain, and routinely share a strategic catalog of bid and product alternatives to support faster, more effective value-engineering.
  • Track proposal performance and prepare quarterly win/loss reporting to inform leadership and guide future strategy.
