About The Position

The Director of Digital Product Studio serves as a hands-on leader who guides American Bible Society’s centralized hub for digital product innovation. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this role drives the creation of new digital experiences and ministry tools that advance Bible access, engagement, and advocacy in the U.S. and globally. The Director combines strategic vision with direct involvement in product discovery and delivery, embedding human-centered design, design thinking, and lean startup principles—including the Build–Measure–Learn cycle—into how ABS conceives, builds, and evaluates digital products. They will champion rapid experimentation, validated learning, and evidence-based decision-making, fostering collaboration across ministries and departments to move from fragmented efforts toward a coordinated, user-centered approach that maximizes mission impact while minimizing waste. This leader cultivates a culture of creativity, humility, and faithful stewardship of ABS’s digital resources—helping people everywhere experience the transforming power of God’s Word.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of product leadership with design thinking and lean startup expertise
  • 3+ years managing product teams (product managers, associates) and mentoring design professionals
  • Roadmap planning and work estimation.
  • Familiarity with leading software teams, especially teams using AWS serverless frameworks, Typescript/JavaScript, React/Next JS, Postgres.
  • Proficiency in Agile and Scrum practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Product Studio by guiding product discovery, prioritization, and delivery through evidence-based processes, cross-functional collaboration, and alignment with American Bible Society’s mission and long-term digital strategy.
  • Serve as a member of the CTO’s leadership team alongside other directors
  • Lead the full product lifecycle and portfolio management using Lean principles, ensuring effective scoping, planning, and delivery of multiple concurrent initiatives through collaboration with stakeholders, technical teams, and capacity planners.
  • Ensure effective stakeholder engagement through transparent communication, agile practices, and budget oversight, serving as the primary contact for updates and decisions across all product studio initiatives.
  • Drive a culture of human-centered innovation by embedding design thinking and lean methodologies into the Product Studio, leading user research, experimentation, and iterative design to test assumptions and inform product direction.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to a multidisciplinary team, fostering growth, aligning work with organizational values, and ensuring high-quality delivery through effective people management and collaboration with technical partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement by tracking KPIs, evaluating outcomes, capturing lessons learned, and ensuring smooth handoff of products for sustainable impact.
