About the Agency: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation Development (HPD) promotes quality and affordability in the city's housing, and diversity and strength in the city’s neighborhoods because every New Yorker deserves a safe, affordable place to live in a neighborhood they love. - We maintain building and resident safety and health - We create opportunities for New Yorkers through housing affordability - We engage New Yorkers to build and sustain neighborhood strength and diversity. ________________________________________ Your Team: The Office of Neighborhood Strategies (ONS) collaborates with nonprofits, community stakeholders, and elected officials to empower tenants and homeowners and to plan for neighborhood change, including the redevelopment of public land for affordable housing. The Office of Neighborhood Strategies is composed of two divisions and a cross-divisional unit reporting to the Associate Commissioner: - The Division of Planning and Predevelopment (P&P) manages HPD’s predevelopment and land use pipeline on City-owned land, as well as the agency’s land use and resiliency policy. - The Division of Neighborhood Development and Stabilization (NDS) conducts community engagement and outreach through neighborhood plans, tenant and owner support programs, education programs, and partnerships with community-based organizations. - The Strategic Initiatives Unit (SIU) leads special planning and policy initiatives and provides essential technical, planning, and policy support to staff and the Associate Commissioner of Neighborhood Strategies. Your Impact: As the Director of Procurement for the Office of Neighborhood Strategies, you will manage office-wide procedures across financial management, procurement, and contract management. You will ensure New Yorkers have access to the resources they need to stay in their homes by overseeing the effective and efficient implementation of contracts with community-based partners who provide direct services to New Yorkers. Effective management of ONS contracts and procurements will enhance the Office’s organizational health and will ensure critical housing services are widely accessible to the public. Your Role: Your role as Director of Procurement will be to oversee complex procurement, budgetary, and fiscal activities, including managing timelines, processes, and relationships with stakeholders across the agency, City government, and non-governmental partners. You will also work closely with the Chief of Staff, ONS Executive Team, and both ONS divisions to provide guidance and support ONS teams in advancing strategic goals by improving and streamlining procurement and contracting policies and procedures. As resources become available, you will be responsible for building out a team to support and expand ONS’s operational and financial needs.
