About The Position

The Director of Procurement provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all sourcing, procurement, and vendor management activities across VASA Fitness. This role partners cross-functionally with Development, Construction, Facilities, Operations, Finance, and other key stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven procurement of equipment, materials, FF&E, and services that support new club development, remodels, and ongoing operations. This leader drives vendor performance, negotiates enterprise-level agreements, strengthens purchasing systems and controls, and ensures alignment with VASA's brand standards, growth objectives, and financial targets. The Director of Purchasing plays a critical role in delivering a consistent and elevated member experience across all locations.

Requirements

Demonstrated strategic procurement and vendor negotiation experience.
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to develop, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and purchasing controls.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile, interpret, and present data effectively.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing/ERP systems.
Regular and predictable attendance.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
7+ years of progressive procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in multi-site retail, hospitality, fitness, and/or construction/development environments.
Experience supporting rapid growth and new unit development.
Knowledge of fitness equipment, construction materials, FF&E procurement, and facility-related supplies.
Experience leading or building procurement teams.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with company growth and development plans.
Lead competitive bid processes and negotiate enterprise-level contracts to secure optimal pricing, quality, and service levels.
Establish and maintain strong vendor partnerships while holding suppliers accountable to performance standards and SLAs.
Resolve vendor disputes and performance issues in a timely and professional manner.
Continuously evaluate supplier base to drive innovation, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
Collaborate with Development, Construction, Facilities, and Operations to anticipate needs and align procurement strategies and timelines with project schedules.
Partner with Finance to manage budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
Support standardization initiatives across clubs to improve efficiency and brand consistency.
Oversee preparation and processing of purchase orders, requisitions, and contracts.
Implement and optimize purchasing systems, controls, and recordkeeping processes.
Develop and maintain purchasing policies and procedures to ensure compliance, transparency, and scalability.
Monitor market conditions, supply chain risks, and commodity trends in order to anticipate impacts to VASA and proactively communicate impacts and recommendations to leadership.
Coordinate removal, resale, or disposal of surplus and obsolete materials.
Administer and manage departmental budget.
Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or member experience.
Prepare and present cost analyses, market condition updates, and procurement performance reports to executive leadership.
Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing purchasing team.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership on procurement-related initiatives.
Assist in coordinating events that showcase supplier capabilities and potential relationships with VASA
