About The Position

The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full-time, on-site Director of Operations to join our team in our Wichita, KS offices. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with no major holidays, no on-call and no weekends. The Director of Operations provides enterprise level leadership and strategic oversight for all nonclinical aspects of practice operations, including medical support services, administrative functions, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging services. This role partners closely with the President, Executive Director, and the Leadership Team to drive operational excellence, financial performance, and sustainable growth through both short and long range planning. The Director of Operations continuously evaluates and evolves practice strategies to ensure alignment with organizational goals, changing market dynamics, and patient care needs. The role is accountable for maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and service delivery while ensuring full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. The Director of Operations oversees the day-to-day operations of CCK and its managed entities, excluding activities that directly involve the practice of medicine. This includes full operational responsibility for laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, ensuring efficiency, regulatory compliance, and integration with broader practice operations. This leader serves as a key advisor to executive leadership on operational performance, risk management, and growth initiatives, and is responsible for fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and patient centered care. The Director of Operations supports and upholds the US Compliance Program, including adherence to the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in healthcare management and operations, including at least five (5) years in a managerial capacity with experience coaching, developing, and managing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise operational leadership for all nonclinical functions, including administrative services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory operations, managed entities, and research.
  • Design and maintain an effective organizational structure; recommend refinements to the President and Executive Director to support strategic and operational goals.
  • Establish, implement, and ensure consistent execution of operational policies, procedures, and internal controls to promote effective communication, information flow, and accountability.
  • Partner with executive leadership to translate organizational strategy into operational plans, goals, and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor business conditions, operational performance, and capacity requirements; proactively advise leadership on risks, opportunities, and resource needs.
  • Oversee operational systems, infrastructure, and technology solutions to support practice wide activities and evolving business requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage within budgetary guidelines; collaborate with practice leaders to adjust staffing plans in response to daily operational needs.
  • Develop, manage, and adhere to capital, financial, and labor budgets; exercise disciplined financial and expense management.
  • Direct preparation and analysis of management reports and performance metrics to support executive decision-making.
  • Lead the development, expansion, and coordination of new office locations and operational initiatives.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead practice managers and operational leaders to build a high performing management team.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and organizational requirements, including adherence to the US Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, and Business Standards.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners in support of operational objectives.
  • Perform additional duties and strategic initiatives as assigned.
