As a full time, exempt Director of Pharmacy, you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed upon programs with assistance from a full support team. Schedule: This full-time, exempt position will work at least 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm, and on-call on as needed basis Locations: Memorial Hospital of Gardena has 173 licensed beds, 104 acute and 69 sub-acute. The hospital admits 7,400 patients and treats more than 30,000 outpatients per year as part of its full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. Memorial Hospital of Gardena is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and a licensed provider for Medicare and Medi-Cal. Coast Plaza Doctors Hospital has 117 licensed beds, including a 37-bed Behavioral Health unit, and a complete in-house range of Emergency Department Services Pharmacy Hours: Memorial Hospital of Gardena – this centralized pharmacy is open 24/7 and supported by Allscripts and Pyxis. Coast Plaza Doctors Hospital - hours are Monday – 7:00am-8:30pm; Tuesday-Friday – 7:30am-8:30pm; and Saturday & Sunday – 8:00am-4:30pm. The pharmacy utilizes CPOE and ADC-Pyxis with Pyxis automation Schedule: This full-time, exempt position will work at least 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm, and on-call on as needed basis You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in

Requirements

  • B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Current California Pharmacist license in good standing
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services. Proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology
  • Demonstrated leadership, administration, human resources, and managerial skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in interdisciplinary teams and committees
  • Business acumen including profit/loss understanding, contract negotiations, and GPO function
  • Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics
  • Experience using computer applications including pharmacy information systems, pharmacy software, word processing, and spreadsheets

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all pharmacy services within a single hospital, aligning operations with the hospital’s clinical, quality, and financial goals
  • Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use, overseeing clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and formulary management
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountability for pharmacy leadership and staff, including managers, pharmacists, technicians, and support teams
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, USP, BOP and state/federal laws
  • Oversee pharmacy financial performance, including budgeting, purchasing, contract management, and cost-containment initiatives
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders, supporting system-wide patient care, quality, and safety initiatives
  • Drive innovation, performance improvement, and strategic growth, leveraging data, technology, and best practices to advance pharmacy services
