The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time). Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Overview Salary Range: $160,100 – $201,500 SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job) Provides leadership role which supports Capital's Health (CH) mission, vision, goals and objectives while focusing on the patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers. Ensures continuous and timely availability of Nursing Care to patients. Assures Nursing Standards of Care/Practice are current, appropriate, and consistently applied in areas of responsibility. Facilitates design and development of standards of patient care. Maintains regulatory agency standards of care, AORN, ASPAN, and ANA standards of nursing practice within areas of responsibility. Performs proactive management and oversight of patient services to maintain smooth and efficient operations. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the financial business goals and objectives in alignment with the mission and objectives of CH. Monitors the status of all aspects of surgical services from a financial, capacity management, effectiveness, quality and service perspective. Assures fiscally viable and optimal service delivery in the Perioperative units and provides leadership and support to ensure achievement of Perioperative Services strategic and operational plans. Demonstrates professionalism through personal and professional accountability, ethics, promoting evidence-based practice, advocacy and professional commitment. May also oversee other clinical or administrative areas as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's of science in Nursing Degree or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing Degree with a relevant master's degree.
  • PA RN License (or immediate application submission) required upon Capital Health's ownership/operation of a PA hospital.
  • Seven years of Operating Room nursing experience including three years of formal leadership experience over clinical department(s).
  • Registered Nurse – NJ or Registered Nurse – NLC multi-state
  • Possesses competency in healthcare operations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory bodies, NJDOH, CMS, NHSN, and ANCC Magnet Recognition Program.
  • Ability to learn and navigate various internal and external systems applications and databases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in defining problems, data collection, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Must have excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive number of technical instructions, mathematical displays of statistical values.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously and effectively manage multiple projects of high importance to Capital Health and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to all ORs, and GI labs at all Capital Health locations.
  • Prepares capital budget requests including ROI.
  • Prepares monthly expense variance and justification reports for Finance.
  • Establishes cost-per-case analysis process to identify savings opportunities and variation among surgeons.

  • Develops a process to monitor OR supply charge capture accuracy using OR and Materials Management information systems (Epic OpTime, SIS, PMM, Lawson).
  • Collaborates with hospital IT department and vendors for implementation of new OR information system (SIS).
  • Analyzes cost and reimbursement for key procedures.
  • Performance Measurement software.
  • Develops perioperative dashboard of key analytics including block utilization, turnover time, first case start times.
  • Acts as liaison to Risk Management for clinical information requested for legal matters.

  • Collaborates with Supply Chain to identify consigned versus owned inventory and create new processes for controlling vendor access.
  • Provides input for block allocations and appropriate scheduling of outpatient surgeries in main OR versus ASC.
  • Leads/Facilitates unit and facility teams/committees that positively impact practice; integrates effectively and links unit committee initiatives to facility initiatives.
  • Utilizes research findings for the establishment of standards, practices and patient care models in the organization.

  • Maintains overall responsibility for ensuring the nursing standards of practice are adhered to for all areas of clinical care at Capital Health.
  • Ensures quality patient care and exercises discretion and judgment with overseeing the management of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery that supports optimal patient outcomes.
  • Oversees Departmental QI processes.
  • Ensures proper allocation of equipment, supplies and facilities for maintaining patient care always in accordance with established policies and safety standards.
  • Establishes and maintains clinical and administrative records and reports as required in accordance with established policy.
  • Plans, develops, implements and controls the operational and capital budgets in areas of responsibility in collaboration with the management team.
  • Educates team leaders on financial implications of patient care decisions.
  • Facilitates leadership development through effective delegation; assists staff in their professional development, and in the identification of resources needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Ensures nurses are actively involved in decisions that affect their practice.
