About The Position

Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. In addition to the living units, the facility houses the New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities. The hospital employs approximately 195 staff members. Laurel Oaks is searching for a dynamic Director of Performance Imporvement to join our team! The Director of Performance Improvement is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and analysis of performance improvement projects and activities with a focus on improving patient safety and quality of care. The Director Performance Improvement sets priorities for improvements aligned to ongoing strategic initiatives. Leads and directs process improvement activities that provide more efficient and streamlined workflow in the hospital. The Director of Performance Improvement is responsible for coordinating an organization–wide approach to continual compliance with all appropriate regulatory and licensing standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, social work, mental health/behavioral sciences, or related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience directing performance improvement and risk management activities in a hospital, psychiatric hospital, or mental health treatment setting preferred.
  • Knowledgeable regarding Joint Commission accreditation standards.
  • Experience interpreting State and Federal standards related to hospital operations preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details in reviewing and producing documents required.
  • Must be computer literate, possess accurate typing skills, efficient in Microsoft Excel to include the ability to create spreadsheets, formulas, and populate graphs.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy desirable.
  • Must be familiar with confidentiality guidelines.
  • Familiarization of hospital routines and terminology is highly desirable.
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills; the ability to assume responsibility; make appropriate decisions; and be discreet in business dealings.
