About The Position

The Director of Pediatric Dentistry and Residency Program is responsible for leading and managing the pediatric dentistry residency program. This includes overseeing curriculum development, clinical training, faculty coordination, accreditation compliance, and resident mentorship. The role combines administrative leadership with academic and clinical expertise to ensure the program meets educational standards and prepares residents for successful careers in pediatric dentistry.

Requirements

  • DDS/DMD degree with specialization in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Board certification in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical and academic experience.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Prior experience in graduate medical/dental education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Administration Design, implement, and continuously improve the residency curriculum.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., CODA, ACGME).
  • Conduct annual program evaluations and self-studies.
  • Maintain program accreditation and prepare for site visits and reviews.
  • Develop and monitor SMART goals for program improvement.
  • Resident Recruitment & Development Recruit and select residents through fair and inclusive processes.
  • Provide mentorship, career guidance, and support for resident wellbeing.
  • Monitor resident progress and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Facilitate resident participation in scholarly activities and research.
  • Educational Oversight Coordinate clinical rotations, didactic sessions, and seminars.
  • Ensure residents receive training in key areas such as: Pain management and addiction recognition Social determinants of health Ethical decision-making Quality improvement and patient safety Promote interdisciplinary learning and collaboration.
  • Faculty Management Recruit, evaluate, and develop faculty members.
  • Provide feedback and support for teaching effectiveness.
  • Ensure faculty participation in educational and scholarly activities.
  • Compliance & Governance Maintain knowledge of institutional, state, and national regulations.
  • Participate in institutional governance and committees (e.g., GMEC).
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting to regulatory bodies.
  • Evaluation & Quality Assurance Implement systems for competency-based assessment of residents.
  • Oversee faculty evaluations and development.
  • Use educational and clinical outcomes to drive program improvements.
