About The Position

The Director of Parts at TYM North America is an executive position with a pivotal role for leading and managing all aspects of parts inventory, sales operations and customer service to drive revenue and profitability. Key responsibilities include developing sales strategies and managing inventory for optimal stock levels to ensure operational efficiency and compliance to drive revenue and profitability. This role requires a blend of hands-on management, strategic planning, strong leadership skills, parts and sales management, and expertise in inventory management and warehouse procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in a parts warehouse environment, including inventory control, distribution, and logistics operations.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience within a warehouse setting required.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related software.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, and vendor platforms.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead, manage, and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proven ability to implement and manage process improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Decisive leadership and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and team collaboration.
  • Strategic planning and forecasting skills to align warehouse operations with business objectives.
  • Emotional intelligence to effectively manage team dynamics and promote a positive work environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and best practices.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards related to warehousing and logistics.
  • Ability to develop and enforce safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. or more, potentially requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to navigate and work within a warehouse environment, potentially exposed to varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • May be required to operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, and hold relevant certifications.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience with P&L (Profit & Loss) responsibility preferred.
  • Previous experience in the tractor, automotive, or parts industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve parts sales targets, identify new business opportunities, build long-term customer relationships, optimize warehouse operations, and ensure a high standard of customer service.
  • Develop aftermarket product line strategies and participate in strategy planning sessions based on market requirements and profit expectations.
  • Oversee all aspects of warehousing, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
  • Manage and optimize space utilization within the warehouse and storage areas.
  • Implement and enforce inventory control processes, including auditing, cycle counting, and reconciling with data systems.
  • Optimize inventory levels to minimize holding costs and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Analyze inventory data, sales patterns, and market trends to forecast demand and inform purchasing decisions.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate sales and warehouse staff, fostering a productive and positive work environment.
  • Manage workflow, delegate tasks, and ensure performance meets expectations.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and promote professional growth.
  • Develop and manage safety in compliance with all regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure adherence to security procedures and protocols.
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and transportation companies to ensure efficient delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Streamline processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement lean management principles.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other software to track inventory, manage operations, and generate reports.
  • Manage the departmental budget, track costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and present reports for upper management on inventory levels, productivity, delivery times, and other key metrics.
  • Resolve problems and complaints related to shipments, inventory discrepancies, or other operational issues.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by optimizing order fulfillment, delivery times, and communication.
  • Manages performance of managers and provides feedback as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
