Responsibilities

Standards, Methods & Best Practices (Primary Accountability)
Develop, document, and maintain corporate paint application standards for SMC components, including:
Surface preparation methods (sanding, cleaning, masking, inspection)
Primer application processes and film build targets
Topcoat application processes (manual and automated where applicable)
Flash times, cure windows, and inter-coat adhesion requirements
Create standard work, method sheets, SOPs, and visual aids for painters, technicians, and engineers.
Define critical process parameters (CPPs) and critical-to-quality (CTQs) related to paint application (film build, overlap, gun settings, application sequence).
Ensure consistent deployment and adherence to paint application standards across all plants.
Paint Application Process Engineering
Serve as the corporate expert on SMC paintability and coating application behavior, including primer-to-substrate adhesion and topcoat appearance.
Optimize paint application techniques to improve:
First-pass yield (FPY)
Film build consistency
Cosmetic appearance (gloss, texture, color harmony)
Recoat and inter-coat adhesion
Develop application process windows and validate them through t
