What You’ll Do
Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with our goals and objectives for a professional accounting firm
Leverage profitability models and market intelligence for evaluating and recommending changes to new and existing fee arrangements, and to build client relationships aligned with firm strategy
Evaluate existing operational processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvement initiatives
Streamline workflows and procedures to enhance efficiency and improve overall productivity
Establish and monitor performance metrics to track process effectiveness and identify areas for further optimization
Lead and mentor a team of operational professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support
Foster a collaborative work culture, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to promote employee development and engagement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coordination and alignment of operational activities
Establish firm-wide standards, controls, and performance expectations for billing and revenue operations
Oversee unbilled WIP management, billing cycle times, and write-ups/write-downs
Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management, highlighting operational performance and recommending applicable strategies
Manage Client Service process across entire business
Participate in projects focused on enhancing operational processes, implementing new technologies, or introducing best practices
Stay up to date with industry trends, latest technologies, and operational innovations, incorporating them into GMS Surgent’s operational strategies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• 10+ years of financial experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
• Experience in public accounting or professional services required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment during a busy tax season
• Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and organize workflow
• Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to build immediate relationships with personnel and clients
• Advanced computer skills, including assisting in the development of standardized software procedures
• Experienced at building and managing teams and developing others in a professional atmosphere
