About The Position

The Construction Director of Operations will be responsible to translate the company’s strategic growth plans into an actionable and defined operational plan. This position will oversee the day-to-day activities of construction operations and will be responsible for the identification, acquisition, and profitable completion of the projects to meet the goals of the division.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance.
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction or equivalent relevant experience
  • Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related Commercial Construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership of the team
  • Support and intercede with team members when appropriate
  • Participate in the hiring and training of team members.
  • Organize and oversee the project teams to ensure they are completed on time and in budget
  • Conducts performance evaluations of team members that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Uphold and present a positive image of the organization to employees, clients, and the communities we serve.
  • Support client relations and develop new clients
  • Identify potential new markets and opportunities
  • Work with BD Department to develop strategies and project pursuit plans
  • Assist in the development and writing of project proposals
  • Participate and provide guidance to project teams during presentations
  • Oversee the coordination with the preconstruction department to provide pre-con and estimating services
  • Oversee the completion of owner deliverables during preconstruction phase
  • Review owner contracts and collaborate with the Risk Department to negotiate contract terms and to mitigate risks
  • Encourage Positive Work Environment thru Positive Leadership
  • Coordinate Project Team Assignments
  • Evaluate Strengths & Weaknesses of team members
  • Develop career paths and conduct performance reviews
  • Accountable for specific components of construction operations in the Division or Region as assigned.
  • Accountable for success of construction business development efforts and for project construction execution processes.
  • Provides construction support to Project Managers
  • Review project safety efforts to ensure compliance and a safe jobsite
  • Review project schedules to maintain project success
  • Review project accounting and financial reporting
  • Help develop and implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations
