About The Position

The Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center is a 123 bed sub-acute and long-term care skilled nursing facility. The Manor offers comprehensive short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing services for adults ages 18 and older. The Manor has also received the highest overall quality rating – five stars – from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Five-Star Quality Rating System. Only the top 10 percent of nursing homes in the country are eligible to earn this honor. Lastly, the Manor consistently scores high for patient and resident satisfaction compared with similar facilities, according to Holleran scores. The Manor has an employment opportunity for a Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services within the facility. In collaboration with the facility administrator, this role allocates departmental resources in an efficient and cost‑effective manner to ensure each resident attains or maintains the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being. The Director of Nursing also collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and external organizations—including government agencies and advocacy groups—to develop, support, and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of Nursing experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current NJ RN License required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Nursing certifications consistent with nature of care provided are desirable.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of leadership, organizational ability, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of long-term care management, policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census development is required.
  • Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing in a long-term care setting.
  • Must possess time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to make presentations before top management, public groups, and staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and manages the overall operation of the nursing units ensuring the implementation of established standards of care and comparing the delivery of the care to state and federal standards(s).
  • Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the residents' individual needs and assures the highest level of quality care and comfort is maintained for the residents at all times.
  • Coordinates with the interdisciplinary team in all services to assure continuity of care in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, standards and guidelines.
  • Determines nursing staffing requirements based on mandated ratios in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures nursing staff have appropriate competencies and skill sets to provide nursing and related services to provide safe, individualized and quality care.
  • Interviews, trains and evaluates qualified personnel for nursing services.
  • Coordinates nursing service programs with other related departments.
  • Affirms the Resident's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
  • Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the Residents cared for.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the Residents cared for.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth, development and/or adult health throughout the life span as appropriate to the job performed.
  • Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
  • Ensures mandatory meeting participation and timely reporting to QAPI committee, Safety committee, Infection Control committee and various other committees requiring your attendance.
  • Plans and facilitates unit based education to maintain and enhance the clinical competency of the nursing staff.
  • Performs administrative duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Develops work assignments.
  • Develops, reviews, revises, interprets and executes nursing policies and procedures as needed but at least annually.
  • Collaborates with patient representative to review complaints and grievances and resolve any issues identified.
  • Investigates, reviews and follows up on all incident and accident reports for Skilled Nursing residents.
  • Assures that department personnel follow established safety regulations and requirements in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Assures that equipment and supplies are maintained and operable at all times.
  • Plans, prepares and adheres to the nursing services budget.
  • Makes daily rounds to assure quality care is being provided to the residents.
  • Collaborates with the Infection Control Preventionist to ensure effective infection control practices.
  • Assumes the responsibilities of the Unit Manager, as necessary.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as necessary and required.
  • Maintains open communication with the Administrator, regarding needs, issues requirements or information.
  • Oversees and evaluates discharge planning.
