Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this role leads Regional Nurse Administrators and collaborates closely with executive and clinical leadership; driving nursing excellence through policy development, workforce strategy, quality improvement, and system-wide clinical integration. While not directly supervising all nursing staff, this role holds significant influence over workflows, standards, and care delivery models across clinical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current, unrestricted Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in ambulatory care, primary care, or community health
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master’s in Healthcare Administration or related field
  • Nursing leadership certification (NE-BC, CENP, or similar)
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or PCMH environment
  • Knowledge of HRSA compliance and UDS reporting
  • Experience in population health, chronic disease management, and care coordination
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies such as PDSA, Lean, or Six Sigma

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight for nursing services across all sites
  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and evidence-based practice standards
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including Indiana Nurse Practice Act, OSHA, HIPAA, HRSA, and accreditation standards
  • Serve as a clinical subject matter expert for complex nursing and practice-related issues
  • Evaluate and optimize care delivery models to improve efficiency and patient outcomes
  • Lead competency development and performance improvement initiatives across nursing teams
  • Partner with Quality and Population Health leadership to drive clinical quality initiatives
  • Monitor nursing-sensitive indicators, patient safety metrics, and clinical outcomes
  • Lead care gap closure strategies and support population health management efforts
  • Develop auditing processes to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective action planning for patient safety events
  • Represent nursing leadership in organizational quality and performance committees
  • Supervise and mentor Regional Nurse Administrators
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for nursing staff
  • Lead performance management and leadership development planning
  • Partner with Clinical Education to align training, competency validation, and development programs
  • Implement professional development pathways and preceptorship programs
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, medical directors, and operational leaders to ensure integrated care delivery
  • Lead nursing engagement in Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiatives and care models
  • Develop and manage nursing budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation
  • Represent nursing leadership in community and regional healthcare partnerships
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing teams and executive leadership
  • Champion patient-centered, culturally responsive care practices
  • Oversee triage protocols, care coordination workflows, and transitions of care
  • Monitor and improve patient experience metrics related to nursing services
  • Address patient concerns and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation requirements
  • Prepare teams for audits, surveys, and regulatory reviews
  • Oversee licensure, credentialing, and privileging processes for nursing staff
  • Monitor incident reporting and ensure timely follow-up and resolution
