Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree preferred but not required. Minimum of 2 years of college or university work with experience with physicians and community relations required
  • Medical Staff position requires certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in management in Medical Staff Services setting and a thorough understanding of goals, objectives, and purpose of Medical Staff Services required
  • Excellent computer experience required

Responsibilities

  • Direct all functions of the Medical Staff Services Department
  • Perform a variety of tasks requiring initiative, independent judgement, discretion, diplomacy, and substantial knowledge of Hospital and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, and Policies & Procedures
  • Develop long-term plans, goals, and objectives of the Medical Staff and Medical Staff Services
  • Establish formal means of accountability to the Board of Trustees for Medical Staff activities, and ensure JCAHO compliance in all areas of Medical Staff Services
  • Act as the liaison between Administration and physicians and respond appropriately to the business and social needs expressed by hospital physicians
