Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science preferred.
  • CA Teacher Librarian Services Credential or equivalent teaching credential/license preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field required.
  • 5–10 years of professional librarian experience, preferably including service in a school.
  • Demonstrated success working with high school students and collaborating with faculty on curriculum and instruction is highly valued,
  • Proven leadership and management skills, including budget development and strategic planning.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging library technologies, integrated library systems, and online research databases.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, faculty, students, and parents.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to the philosophy of a Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Collection Management - Select, acquire, organize, and maintain print and digital resources (books, media, databases) to support the school’s curriculum and mission.
  • Instructional Support - Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy, research skills, and responsible use of information into classroom instruction.
  • Technology & Resource Access - Ensure effective access to library materials, digital tools, and research platforms for students and faculty, including training and support in their use.
  • Administration & Leadership - Manage the library budget, oversee library staff, and develop and implement library policies, procedures, and strategic goals.
  • Library as a Hub - Cultivate the library as a welcoming, student-centered space that supports study, research, reading, and quiet reflection.
  • Student Engagement & Programs - Promote a culture of reading and inquiry through clubs and activities (e.g., Book Society) and other literary or research-focused programs.
