About The Position

We are looking for a highly strategic, commercially driven wholesale leader to join the Bombas Wholesale leadership team as Director of Key Accounts, Wholesale, reporting directly to the GM/SVP of Wholesale + Retail. This role owns Bombas’ largest and most complex wholesale channels—Sporting Goods and Mass—while also providing senior leadership oversight for the Department Store channel, which will be managed by a direct report. This is a senior, hands-on “player–coach” role that combines direct selling and account ownership with people leadership and broader organizational influence. In addition to owning key strategic accounts, this leader will serve as a right-hand commercial partner to the GM/SVP, acting as a stabilizing force and standard-setter as senior leadership continues to elevate out of the day-to-day business. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of progressive wholesale experience, with deep expertise managing large national retailers, complex forecasts, and high-volume programs. This individual is a confident P&L owner, experienced people manager, and trusted cross-functional partner who can balance near-term execution with long-term strategic growth.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in wholesale, retail, sales, merchandising, planning, or finance, with deep exposure to Sporting Goods, Mass, and/or Department Store channels
  • Proven success managing large national retail accounts with complex forecasts, high-volume programs, and multi-door distribution
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including direct management of account teams and the ability to lead through influence
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, with experience owning or heavily influencing P&L performance, forecasting, demand planning, and margin management
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to clearly present data, insights, and recommendations to senior internal stakeholders and retail partners
  • Highly collaborative and operationally disciplined, with a track record of building strong cross-functional partnerships and driving execution in fast-paced environments

Nice To Haves

  • A seasoned Wholesale Director / senior commercial leader with deep experience managing large, complex retail accounts within Sporting Goods, Mass, and/or Department Store channels.
  • A proven people leader and mentor who can coach account teams, elevate performance, and provide clear direction while still rolling up their sleeves when needed.
  • A strategic, solutions-oriented thinker who can balance big-picture planning with day-to-day execution across high-volume businesses.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of leading senior-level retailer conversations and influencing cross-functional partners.
  • A confident P&L owner who understands how to drive profitable growth through disciplined forecasting, inventory management, and thoughtful promotional strategy.
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to lead through influence and act as a halo leader across the wholesale organization as the business scales.
  • Inquisitive and growth-minded—comfortable challenging assumptions, learning quickly, and adapting in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deeply aligned with the Bombas mission, with a strong appreciation for purpose-driven brands and the importance of giving back.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategic, financial, and operational performance of Bombas’ largest wholesale accounts and channels, while building scalable account leadership practices that elevate rigor across the wholesale organization.
  • Lead direct selling efforts for Sporting Goods and Mass, oversee the Department Store channel through a direct report, and manage and develop a team while helping elevate overall wholesale best practices, rigor, and execution.
  • Serve as the primary commercial owner for Bombas’ Sporting Goods and Mass wholesale channels, with direct responsibility for revenue, margin, and profitability.
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the Department Store channel, managed by a direct report, ensuring alignment to overall wholesale objectives and brand standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop two direct reports, setting clear performance expectations, operating rhythms, and development plans. This small but high-impact team includes an Account Executive overseeing Department Stores and an Associate-level role supporting Sporting Goods and Mass.
  • Own key national retail relationships, leading senior-level account meetings, negotiations, line reviews, and long-term joint business planning.
  • Set and execute channel and account strategies aligned to segmentation, distribution goals, and company initiatives.
  • Own P&L performance for assigned channels and accounts, including pricing strategy, inventory management, promotional planning, and margin optimization.
  • Partner with the GM/SVP of Wholesale + Retail on annual operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and long-range growth strategies.
  • Drive disciplined forecasting, demand planning, and order book management in partnership with Planning and Operations.
  • Oversee the development and execution of annual and seasonal account plans, ensuring consistency, rigor, and best-in-class retailer storytelling across channels.
  • Analyze weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales and profitability performance; identify risks and opportunities and lead corrective action plans.
  • Establish and reinforce best practices for EDI compliance, service levels, operational execution, and cross-functional communication.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Development and Merchandising to inform line architecture, channel-specific assortments, and long-term product strategy.
  • Act as a halo leader across the wholesale sales team, mentoring peers, sharing best practices, and helping elevate commercial excellence as the organization scales.
