Role Summary: The Director of IT Operations & Platform Services is responsible for the reliability, availability, security, and operational excellence of the organization’s technology platforms. This role leads teams responsible for DevOps, enterprise application support, and APIs and customer connectivity, ensuring that systems and services meet IT, business, and customer expectations. This leader drives operational maturity across system monitoring, incident management, change management, system administration, and end-user support, while partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Security, and business stakeholders. This role will report to the Vice President of Information Technology. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, platform services, or application support.
  • 5+ years in a management or director-level role.
  • Experience managing teams of 10 people or more.
  • Strong experience with IT service management frameworks (ITIL or equivalent).
  • Hands-on background with DevOps, system administration, and production support.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and integration platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead incident management and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in cloud-based or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with API management, middleware, and integration platforms.
  • Experience in SaaS, regulated, or customer-facing environments.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines, demonstrating a strong capacity for planning and execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • A valid Driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience required (3 years preferred; Does not include time on learner’s permits).

Responsibilities

  • Owns day-to-day operational performance of enterprise platforms and applications.
  • Establishes and matures IT service management practices, including incident, problem, change, and request management.
  • Ensures high availability, performance, and resilience of production systems through proactive monitoring and capacity planning.
  • Leads major incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident remediation.
  • Defines and tracks SLAs, SLOs, and operational KPIs to measure and improve service delivery.
  • Leads DevOps and platform teams responsible for CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and environment stability.
  • Partners with Engineering to improve deployment reliability, scalability, and operational readiness.
  • Ensures operational standards for logging, monitoring, altering, and observability across all systems.
  • Oversees operational support of APIs, integrations, B2B eCommerce platforms, and customer connectivity platforms.
  • Ensures reliability, performance, and security of external and internal integrations.
  • Coordinates with Engineering, and customer-facing teams to support onboarding, changes, and issue resolution.
  • Establishes operational governance for integration changes and releases.
  • Leads teams supporting enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, HRIS, financial systems, collaboration tools).
  • Ensures effective vendor management, contract oversight, and escalation handling.
  • Drives continuous improvement in application support processes and user experience.
  • Oversees system administration, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Partners with Information Security to ensure systems meet security, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Supports vulnerability management, access controls, and operational security standards.
  • Ensures operational readiness for audits, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Builds, leads, and mentors high-performing IT operations and platform teams.
  • Defines long-term vision and roadmap for IT operations and platform services.
  • Manages budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational risk, system health, and technology investments.
  • Ensures individual personal adherence to TireHub policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participates and maintains ongoing training requirements through in-person, virtual or computer-based learning modules as assigned.
  • Completes other tasks assigned by their supervisor or another member of Leadership, as requested.
