About The Position

To oversee and provide leadership for the district’s intervention programs and services, ensuring compliance, effectiveness, and alignment with district goals and budgetary parameters.

Requirements

  • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate
  • Valid Oklahoma Administrator’s Certificate
  • Minimum of 12 months of successful experience as a Special Education Teacher
  • 12 months of successful supervision of Special Education Teachers
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws regarding Special Education and Section 504

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in the development and evaluation of the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, including planning, compliance, monitoring, personnel, and budgeting.
  • Provides leadership in the development and evaluation of the district’s Section 504 services, including planning, compliance, monitoring, personnel, and budgeting.
  • Provides leadership in the development and evaluation of the Opioid Abatement Grant, including planning, compliance, monitoring, personnel, and budgeting.
  • Works with school staff, parents, and other professionals to resolve concerns and problems related to tiered intervention supports and counseling services.
  • Ensures district 504 files and practices are in full compliance with Section 504.
  • Evaluates district intervention support personnel, including Behavior Interventionists, Therapists, and School Nurses.
  • Assists the Director of Special Services in reviewing teacher files and consulting with building principals regarding special education teacher performance.
  • Assists principals and teachers in evaluation and discipline matters involving special education and 504 students.
  • Attends 504, IEP, and other special education meetings as needed.
  • Participates in other meetings as requested by the Board, Superintendent, or building principals.
  • Assists in the coordination, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of specialized programs and instruction.
  • Conducts training on special education and Section 504 issues as requested by the Superintendent or building principals.
  • Prepares all necessary reports related to the district’s 504 services, including grant documentation, contracts, requisitions, district-wide reports, and correspondence.
  • Assists in preparing all necessary reports related to the district’s special education services, including grant documentation, contracts, requisitions, and district-wide reports.
  • Reviews all 504 policies and procedures and submits proposed revisions to the Superintendent by May 1st of each year.
  • Participates in appropriate professional development opportunities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in all school-related interactions.
  • Consults with staff, parents, and outside agencies regarding Special Education and Section 504 students and available supports.
  • Responds to parents regarding the evaluation and placement of their children.
  • Collaborates with building administrators regarding special programs, personnel, and student needs; prepares and submits required documentation, budgets, and reports.
  • Monitors staff caseloads and student progress.
  • Assists in recruiting, selecting, and recommending candidates for special education positions.
  • Maintains complete and cumulative records for all students receiving Section 504 services.
  • Assists in adapting school policies to meet special education requirements.
  • Stays informed on current legal requirements and best practices governing special education.
  • Plans and conducts staff in-service training activities.
  • Attends all Board of Education meetings.
  • Supervises and evaluates School Nurses, Therapists, and Behavior Interventionists.
  • Facilitates monthly counselors’ meetings.
  • Provides oversight, guidance, and professional support to counseling services personnel.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
